This initiative is part of the Active & Assisted Living (AAL Programme) that was approved by the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union and will last for 36 months commencing March 2019.

Bringing together a group of companies, research and clinical organisations with a range of complementary expertise, the RESILIEN-T consortium is developing an information and communications technology (ICT) based self-management solution for older adults with mild cognitive impairment (MCI).

People with MCI experience changes in cognition that can be alarming and lead them to fear they will lose autonomy, control and independence. The project aims to help these individuals live a healthy, active and meaningful life.

The project aim are based on scientific evidence that a healthy lifestyle including regular physical, social, and cognitive activity plus good nutrition, can help to support memory wellbeing.

The ICT-based RESILIEN-T platform will be developed as a tool to effectively support self-monitoring and self-management. The intention is to complement traditional clinical approaches by coaching persons with Mild Cognitive Impairment on how to live the best possible quality of life.

This 3 year-long project is financed by the European Commission and is supported by Innosuisse.

From four countries the international RESILIEN-T consortium members are Istituto Nazionale Ricovero e Cura Anziani (Italy), Università Politecnica delle Marche (Italy), University of Toronto (Canada), BSD Design (Italy), Switzerland Innovation Park Biel/Bienne (Switzerland), GoldenAge (Switzerland), Vilans (The Netherlands), Compaan (The Netherlands), and Careyn (The Netherlands).

The contact person from Switzerland Innovation Park Biel/Bienne is Dr. Raniero Pittini, who is also the head of the Swiss MedTech Center.
