The BFH-CSEM Energy Storage Research Center develops solutions for the energy production of tomorrow. These solutions make it possible for renewable energies from decentralised production to be integrated into the supply grid, and to replace fossil fuels for transportation. The objective is to better exploit the potential of sustainable energy sources such as photovoltaic and wind power.
Prosumer-Lab and the Bern University of Applied Sciences, Engineering and Information Technology
How can the interplay between intelligent buildings and the distribution network operate? Using the Prosumer-Lab test environment the researchers are examining this issue in depth.
The focus areas of the laboratory for batteries and storage systems range from the characterisation and development of electrochemical energy storage and transformation systems through their integration into photovoltaic systems and distribution networks to their use in mobile applications such as hybrid and electric vehicles.
The SIP-BB laboratory for energy storage, engineering services relating to battery connection technology and battery thermal management. In close collaboration with the ESReC we create special batteries including battery management and cell characterisation.
