We seek to strengthen our team with a:
Senior Research Engineer in Advanced Manufacturing, PhD (60-100%)
Your responsibilities and tasks include
- Applied research (theoretical and practical lab work) in the Swiss Advanced Manufacturing Center (SAMC) in close collaboration with the current interdisciplinary research team
- Leading and co-management of innovation projects or subprojects including reporting
- Active contribution of knowledge in your fields of expertise
- Direct collaboration with industrial partners in the frame of innovation projects or R&D services
- Acquisition of funded projects and industrial mandates (initiation, offer/proposal preparation)
- Representation of SAMC and presentation of project results and capabilities
Your profile
- Degree in Computational Engineering, Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline
- Track record of work in interdisciplinary research projects
- Practical R&D experience in at least three of the following fields: systems control, design and simulation of complex components or mechanisms, generative design, Digital Twins, process control, machine learning, augmented reality applications, object recognition, Laser processes, optics design and simulation
- Practical experience with laser powder bed fusion, Laser welding, or DED is an advantage
- Proficiency in Python and C# or similar languages
- Profound knowledge of CAD software is a plus
- Open-minded, solution-oriented personality with high social competence and good communication skills; a team player
- Intrinsic curiosity and motivation to advance manufacturing technology
- Readiness and motivation to actively participate in the acquisition of funded research projects and direct mandates and the preparation of proposals
- English spoken and written is a requirement, German and French advantageous
